About PMI Science R&D center in Armenia

Established in 2018, PMI Science R&D Center in Armenia is on of the R&D centers set up by Philip Morris International together with ones in Switzerland, China and Italy. R&D Center has the following main capabilities:

  • Innovation Managementdriving Ideation and Research activities with our external  Partners in Armenia and around the Globe. With Innovation Management team we extend our internal capabilities with all the know-how and expertise that Armenia has to offer. With many partners from Scientific, Engineering and IT communities we drive innovation and input it into PMI’s next version of products and offerings.
  • Experimental Engineeringdriving internal Research and Prototyping activities. Experimental Engineering plays critical role in fast device prototyping, benchmarking and testing for the next generation of PMI Products. Our labs in Material Science, Aerosol Research and Electronics are used to characterize and test prototypes and provide critical data to other R&D teams globally.
  • Mathematical Center of Excellenceproviding critical know-how/capabilities for entire PMI Science Product-Related functions in following directions:
    • Mathematics and AI
    • Data Science and Data Engineering
    • Statistics and Analytics
    • System Knowledge Management

Math CoE plays critical role in PMI’s Product Quality today and in AI-based transformation of the Product in the future.

In 2022, “Philip Morris Armenia” became the first and only company in Armenia to receive the “Equal Salary” international certificate. Emphasizing the effectiveness of the existing mechanisms in terms of providing equal conditions for women and men in the workplace and creating a gender-balanced environment.

Philip Morris Armenia was named as Top Employer Armenia 2025 by the Top Employers Institute based on the participation and results of HR Best Practices Survey. The survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics, including people strategy, work environment, learning, diversity & inclusion, purpose & values, wellbeing, and more.
